Trip Description
The ancient city is a Mini-Thailand, a big open-air museum situated 33 kms east of Bangkok. All major monuments ranging from one third of original to actual size and even a 50 meters high mini-mountain representing Khao Prasat Phra Viharn in the east of Thailand have been reconstructed, and millions have been invested to rebuild the ancient Reception Hall of Ayuthaya.
Stupa Phra Maha That (Ratchaburi)
The Ancient City, also known as Muang Boran, is both entertaining and historically interesting. This 320-acre outdoor museum is an architectural reflection of Thailand's glorious past. Nearly a hundred of the country’s most important historical landmarks and monuments, including palaces and temples, have been reconstructed as miniature replicas.
Dvarati House
The City was remodeled in an atmosphere of social change in Thai society, in hopes of preserving and reminding younger generations of the country’s valuable national heritage. Muang Boran exhibits the essence of true Thai art, customs, and culture as the past thousand years are revived in only a few hours.
Phimai (Khorat)
Muang Boran also houses several ethnological displays of artifacts and antiques, including rural arts, ancient tools, and hunting equipment, evidence of the long-term survival of a native culture. The city, with its carefully laid out, man-made landscape of mountains and streams, is also an ideal place to enjoy the peaceful and natural surrounding, along with cultural performances of folk songs and dances.
